Last Sunday marked the 2-year anniversary of Sci-Fi Daily. I didn't get on social media that day, so here's a belated reminder of how it all began. I'd still buy a book with this cover. Or write it, if I didn't already have more ideas than I know what to do with.

Dan Morton has a whole series of spacegirl artwork. I've shared several but don't *think* this was one of those. I love Morton's retro-futuristic look, especially the skintight spacesuit, the spacegirl's pair of weapons, and her 2 retro blasters. (Yes, I went there.)

I get reality for free every day. That's why, when I want to escape it, I read space opera, sword & planet, and superheroes. It's why I play RPGs. And it's why I write heroic fiction. Why pay for someone else's reality when adventure awaits?

Art by Massimo Carnevale.

Hatching the Phoenix by Vincent Di Fate - who must have the coolest sci-fi artist's name ever. This caught my eye because the ship in the foreground similar to how I envision the starliner that's the setting for my Kindle Vella story, The Hostage in Hiding.

This is probably artwork for the John Carter of Mars RPG, and the scene suggests an exciting adventure is underway. Change the green Martians to yellow-furred beasts, and this could be Jade from Scout's First Mission. My new book that's coming for Kindle on July 20.

Ken Kelly's "Princess of the Walrus" intrigues me. Is she a selkie who bred with the seals' tusked cousins? Or maybe she's from a related race wiped out in a horrific war with the selkies? Either way, she's all babe & fits into more than one of kind of fantasy.

After 5 weeks of iconic spaceships (and one rant), I'll mention my book that comes closest to turning a spaceship into a character. The Starwind isn't in the Falcon or Serenity, but it has its own charm and plays its part in the adventure.

We begin the 21st century with Serenity. Her "space horse" design was perfect for the space western Firefly. She's my favorite spaceship, and I simply couldn't choose just one image of her. The one left hangs on my wall, and two models of her grace my desk.

presents the modern look for the well-dressed adventuress. Note her sensible heels - no spike breaking at the wrong moment for her! - and her no-ripping-necessary short skirt, perfect for running or unconstrained high kicks. Watch this space for action fashion advice!

My newly declared Babe Week continues with 's beautiful rendition of Belit. Conan's partner in adventure had a long run in the Marvel comic, but only appeared in one prose story - "Queen of the Black Coast." As with all Conan stories, it's a good read.
