LRT: I use this trick all the time for doing reference sheets. Works super well!
personally I always flip the outline cause it looks nicer to me and also I have big smooth brain that can't figure out my left vs my right ;o;

I laugh when I see this drawing because there is two areas where I made outlines for some cell shading on the tail, but totally forgot to fill them in. Maybe you can spot them too.
I'd fix it, but for some reason I like it better knowing those flaws are there.

A quick, cheap way of making outlines in 3D: involves duplicating the geometry, enlarging it so it encompasses the original, then inverting the normals so only opposite side is visible.
Ex: Notice what looks like double geometry when edges are visible.
