I remembered to record the illustration this time ^^ It looks like magic when it comes to the shadows and light on the character. It's actually because I use the lasso tool and the gradient tool. And the video doesn't show the selected areas so everything appears like magic ^^

For me, I start by sketching an outline on a separate layer. Then I paint using other layers (1 layer for skin, 1 for hair in front, 1 for tentacles, etc.).

If I need to refine edges, I use the eraser tool.

Basically, I'm painting the picture, not drawing it.

The line art is done with a pen-tool. No photo for this one, it was freehand, but the technique is the same, clean graphic lines and fill. If you use a half-transparency layer mask you can produce some very cool stuff with it
