Today is the 30th Anniversary of Ys Books 1&2. Released back in 1989, this was one of the first games to use a CD-ROM, in doing so they were able to provide enhanced graphics, animated cutscenes, VA and the English localization was one of the first games to use voice dubbing

It's basically Animal Crossing but magical, and for some reason has been exclusive for Japan due to the lack of attention from the western audience.
