Palaeoloxodon namadicus is likely the biggest land mammal to exist. I imagine if they existed today, the space between their tusks would be a pretty sweet place to set up a hammock. Just watch out for that trunk, its a tickler.

Palaeoloxodon falconeri is a great example of the crazy size disparity that can occur within the same genus. I didn't know this extreme was possible for mammals https://t.co/x52Tj8s0aH

Aaand the biggest proboscidean ever, the massive Palaeoloxodon namadicus. This one I can really hear the elephant-like rumble every time I look at it. https://t.co/rL3HgZ2cs0

6) Ultimately a big part of is random chance, & sexual selection seems to help drive this randomness. is not less accurate if it reflects this truth. If people criticize my because they don't understand evolution, it means my is working ;}}

Do you own one of the most significant volumes ever published on It's called All Yesterdays (and is by me, John Conway and C. M. Kosemen), and it's still available: https://t.co/2YGvwULGbH

Have you considered training on skeletal diagrams of dinosaurs&relatives? The resulting "imaginary dinosaurs" would be a joy to reconstruct. The palaeoart community would have a field day...

The manuscript itself dates from the 14th century, and for the palaeographers among us, it features a wide array of gothic hands. https://t.co/FCWrpmJ0zE

4) Oooh...this is really hard. On the one hand I am distinctly proud of Moro and Basq; they are very much a pair and it's not so easy to create well balanced counterpoint designs. Palaeo is also right up there; there's a lot of paleo research in her coat design.
