Since this is made in Godot and idk shaders, the tilemap's texture gets swapped out on level load or whenever a repalletize is called, so it switches to whatevers on there for the tile id! objects have their pallete set by their vertical frame corresponding to the pallete number

Some updates on this: ive been trying out renpy and tyranobuilder but both of those struggle with a certain mechanic I want to implement so my brother is in the middle of setting up a tech demo on godot to use for this project

I couldn't really create a palette limiting shader (color projection seems to be off...). However I still can use pixel rendering and light band-limiting to get this cool effect!

I wasn't really content with Qodot or other solutions, so I've been writing an importer that directly converts compiled Quake BSP files into meshes for 4 to use with KOOK. This first shot might look familiar. Also loads much more complex maps.
