They are cat-like little dragon creatures - instead of wings, they have a wing-like webbing similar to sugar gliders! They can 'float' or glide for some distance, though they aren't capable of full flight.

Recognisable features. If you can use a grappling hook to reach high places, the points it can be attached will usually look consistent. Spot one (or a checkpoint, or an ammo create, or a health kit) in the distance, and you know that's somewhere you can get to eventually.
