During #WW2, still working for PUNCH, Fougasse worked without pay drawing images for publicity campaigns for the Ministry of Information, most famously 'Careless Talk Costs Lives'. The campaign was so popular that its images were reproduced on clothing and even handkerchiefs.
Fougasse became a hugely popular cartoonist in the 1920s and 30s. His books with Donald McCullough such as 'You Have Been Warned' were bestsellers.
