A good friend mailed me this Japanese print card of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the Child Jesus. It was made by a group of anonymous Carmelite nuns in Tōkyō. Part of a series from the 1930s to 60s. It's printed on washi paper.

In 1406 Fra' Filippo Lippi was born in Florence to a butcher and his wife. At two years old he was sent to live with his aunt Mona. Because she was too poor to raise him, he was placed in a Carmelite orphanage at the age of eight. Tough life, great artist.
