The third game was planned to use the prefix 続々/zokuzoku, but it ended up being titled 新・ボクらの太陽/Shin Bokura no Taiyou in homage to 新・猿の惑星/Shin Saru no Wakusei (Japanese title for Escape from the Planet of the Apes). 新/Shin means "new".

They're mainly just model sheets and drawings of the Metal Gears themselves (RAXA and ICBMG), with a drawing of Cunningham's flying platform thrown in for good measure.
@BadHumans Nice catch! I always thought that was just his standard action pose, since I think he did it quite a bit in the 90's animated series.
At least it was redrawn though. I think the U.S. flyer, which was made a bit earlier, simply reused art from the actual comics.
@Nitroid Seeing Kojima next to Ed Boon makes me wish that they had made Metal Gear's Raiden a guest fighter in Mortal Kombat just to mess with people about which Raiden they're talking about.

@tacticalfiend It's mostly just Bunko (pocket-sized) edition of popular manga that tend to get such fancy cover art. Case in point, the regular edition of Bokkou features covers drawn by Hideki Mori (the actual mangaka) whereas the bunko edition have covers by Tsuyoshi Nagano.
Mr. Saegusa was likely the same person who designed the figurines that were used for the packaging and advertisement for SD Snatcher. Hideo Kojima was still in possession of those figures while he was still employed by Konami.
Shueisha were so far ahead of trends that they made manga versions of Street Fighter and Monster Hunter years before Capcom themselves made the games.
Hiroshi Matsuda/松田 宏 would work as a package designer for the PC Engine version of Snatcher, eventually designing the logos for Policenauts and the first Metal Gear Solid. Outside Kojima games he did the title design for Trigon/Lightning Fighters.
