4/2/74: It was jarring to see a cover by an artist other than Bernie Wrightson on SWAMP THING (Luis Dominguez), and inside was the first effort from new penciller Nestor Redondo. According to editor Orlando, some of the other artists considered were Alex Niño & Arthur Suydam.

A happy 85th birthday to the masterful Pablo Marcos! Born in Lima, it was on a 1970 trip to NYC that his wife convinced him to remain in the US. His unforgettable work in b&w horror launched him in the industry, and he also became a sought-after inker. Have a great day, Pablo!

3/21/72: In HOUSE OF MYSTERY - a very strong issue, including the Skeates/Aragonés award-winning "Poster Plague" - there's an example of the occasional "Trick or Treat" tales, which send up horror comic clichés in 1 & 1/2-page blackouts. Can you guess the trite twist here?
