Skyward Sword canonized the idea of hard continuity and a weird-ass holy trinity, when previous games weren't beholden to those ideas. Lots of entries don't have the Master Sword, the Triforce, Ganon, or even Zelda. You're allowed to do other things, I miss that.
Zelda II: The Adventure of Link is criminally underrated, and I think the most immersive in the series. By far the darkest Zelda, it really did pave the way for the likes of Dark Souls and Elden Ring.
Prompted a while ago, but here are my top 5 all-time favorite Zeldas:
1 - Twilight Princess
2 - Ocarina of Time
3 - Majora's Mask
4 - Wind Waker
5 - The Adventure of Link
Wind Waker notwithstanding, I love me some dark Zelda
There has to be an alternate timeline where NiGHTS into Dreams was the popular Sonic Team franchise and I get to see James Marsden drive around with a genderfluid flying harlequin.
To me Masters of the Universe is the opposite of Willow. MotU had everything working against it but there's all this amazing creativity and charm. Willow was more expensive and successful but it's just aggressively adequate. Also Willow abandoned Moebius's designs, screw that.
For those who don't know, it was Yoshifumi Kondō, animation supervisor for Kiki and director of Whisper of the Heart, in my opinion the greatest Ghibli film ever made.
I want so badly to do more Silmarillion art but good gravy there's just not enough time in the day.
Yokohama Kaidashi Kikou is my absolute favorite comic of all time, I have so many scans on my work computer to remind me what perfect atmospheric page design looks like
The problem with Big O being one of the first anime I ever watched is that every following anime will can only reach the level of "almost as good as Big O."
