“Speedy” Schlichter was a well-known member of the Weimar bohemian art scene in Berlin along with her more famous artist husband, Rudolph Schlichter. She also served as a model for a number of his illustrations and paintings.

Harkrider co-directed one film, the Flo Ziegfeld production Glorifying the American Girl (1929) along with the film’s costume and set design. He eventually wanted to produce his own NY stage extravaganzas but the Depression and WWII — and lack of financial backers — did him in.
