Invaders (2019) #7
A broken Invaders must counter Namor’s attacks. Writer Chip Zdarsky flounders a bit, with the heroes at odds. Still love Butch Guice on the WWII art and Carlos Magno on the present day storyline. 3.5/5
Doctor Strange (2018) #15
Doctor Strange’s awful alliance with Dormammu to stop Galactus is just the beginning. Writer Mark Waid has quietly conjured a classically-styled marvelous mystical epic. Artist Barry Kitson, inker Scott Koblish and colorist Brian Reber. 4/5
Berserker Unbound #4
The warrior faces The Demon King. Writer Jeff Lemire concludes this series satisfyingly in dramatic, action-packed fashion. Artist Mike Deodato Jr. and color artist Frank Martin create some of their most stunning and brutal work of the series. 5/5
Asgardians of the Galaxy (2018) #10
Angela strikes at the heart of Heaven! It’s a shame writer Cullen Bunn had to end this overall entertaining series on a WotR tie-in.
Artist Luca Maresca and color artist Federico Blee’s work has a nice flow. 4/5
Domino: Hotshots (2019) #4
Domino must fight the immense power of the Creation Constellation. Writer Gail Simone depicts character relationships exceptionally well and uses that skill in a unique way here. Artists David Baldeon, Michael Shelfer and colorist Jim Charalampidis. 4/5
Hellboy and the B.P.R.D.: Saturn Returns #3
Agent Kinsley and the local authorities set a trap for the bloodthirsty body-snatcher. Writers Mike Mignola and Scott Allie wrap up the main and Liz sub-plots rather quickly. Artist Christopher Mitten and colorist Brennan Wagner. 3/5
Avengers (2018) #19
Gorilla-Man stands between Malekith’s army and Avengers’ Celestial Mountain. Writer Jason Aaron shows both the plight of G-Man’s woes and the greater threat of the War of Realms. Artists: Ed McGuinness & Mark Morales Colorists: Ponsor & Arciniega. 4.5/5
Daredevil (2019) #5
Matt is saved from himself. Writer Chip Zdarsky makes good use of some familiar faces to show Matt and the reader how deeply his trama is buried. Artist Marco Checchetto and colorist Sunny Cho create mood and tone with a multitude colors and textures. 4.5/5
