The animation seems more polished too, with less onscreen dithering going on with some of the line work of the animation compared the previous story.
I also don’t mind watching it in the wider aspect ration and in colour.

A selection of cinema posters from the film’s release that hide Quasimodo’s appearance and Laughton’s makeup in the shadows - a surprise reveal left for the intrepid cinema goers.

A lot of you seem to like the movie “Hardware” so here is some artwork from my lovely pal Graham Humphreys who storyboarded/designed a lot of the film and its iconography (see also “Dust Devil” and “The Island of Dr Moreau.”)

I love this film. “Fantastic Planet” (La Planète sauvage).
France 1973. Directed by René Laloux.

So otherworldly and captivating. From a visual perspective I love that everything is inked and coloured on paper in colour pencil and paint.

Harley has produced many painting/illustrations that capture Hampson’s Dan Dare art style as seen in “Spaceship Away’ magazine.

Around that time I had read the book “The Man who drew Tomorrow” the story of Frank Hampton’s creative work. Such a sad story, many had made so much money from his creation. And after losing his rights he fell into depression, cancer and an attempted suicide.
A cautionary tale.

Four films that could be classed as deeply portentous, boring, or in some instances, problematic by some.
However, there’s something about the cultural backdrop of the years that they were made in (70-73) and the dreamlike logic that permeates their worlds that draws me through.

I did like all the poster artwork created for the film’s releases as seen in the 2019 interview on the disc. It’s a shame none of them could have been released as poster artwork in the set (other posters are included).

As always, the photos are just me pointing an iPad at my TV.

This new Rinzler book will be released soon - “The making of ALIENS.”

And while it’s no ALIEN, I will be interested in reading it. ;) Especially interested in the production gap between Alien and Aliens to see if any undiscovered concepts/talk of other sequels existed back then.

His facial sculpt to Harry Dean Stanton is brilliant, especially when seen in person (he stands at 7” tall). He’s suitably sweaty looking as seen in the scene when he is looking for Jones the cat.
