Lobby cards from perhaps my favourite of the Hammer ‘Dracula’ films - “Brides of Dracula.”

This big box set does come with an enormous beautiful reproduction of the stunning theatrical poster art for the film. Look at those gorgeous painterly details.
I love that plucky underdog Baragon returns for this film, his fight scene with Godzilla is brilliantly staged.

New Star Trek looks fun with its retro stylings. But if I was the Fashion Captain I would bring back the three quarter-length naval trousers, they cut a better silhouette.

Which reminds me…for my recent b’day a friend gave me an original almost 50 yr old 1974 Mego Captain Kirk.

I especially like the score for the scenes in the final act when the machine workers revolt and riot in the city streets above, while our hero fights with Rotwang the Inventor who has kidnapped Maria.

Purists may hate the idea of it but I love it.

Tonight’s film.

I have barely any memory of “Star Trek The Motion Picture.” I saw it when it first came out and almost forgot about it, although I still remember the free Weetabix cards. Saw it again some years later but it still remains a nebulous memory for me.

I did love the scenes that feature the gang’s catchy theme song that they orchestrate their criminal behaviour to…

‘Black leather, black leather, smash smash smash, crash, crash, crash, kill kill kill…’

“The Damned” would make a good double bill with “Psychomania.”

Starting with a reproduction of the original 1971 theatrical program. I’m not sure that many younger film fans remember film programs/books. These were always available to purchase before a film as a souvenir, common in the UK until the early 1980s.
They’re still used in Japan.

Every springtime I read a Moomin book. It’s a tradition that I have that seems to centre me as the season changes from winter to the advent of summer. This time I’ll return to “Comet in Moominland” as it’ll feel quite appropriate at this time.
