'Seiners', Rockwell Kent, oil on canvas, 1913.
Just look at those clouds.
Just watched a red kite cruising over Wells. I've seen dozens above Dyfed and plenty along the M4, but this is only the 2nd I've seen in Someret. A good day.
'Red Kite', Delia Portsmouth, oil on board, 1970.
Good morning. I'm starting the day with two views of Great Bardfield, by two artists. On the left we have 'Two Women Sitting in a Garden' by Eric Ravilious, 1932, and on the right we have 'Summer Gardens, Bardfield', by Kenneth Rowntree, 1940s.
Same wall? More to follow. . .
Good morning - I hope the night passed well, and you're ready for the day. I'm starting with a pair from the splendid @Anna_Dillon. Left, 'Beacon Hill', mixed media on paper, and right 'Grim's Ditch', oil on board.
You can find more of her work at https://t.co/Ux7R0d64Oz
Look what I found in the box marked 'Edward Bawden'. Left, 'Larchwood', c. 1933, and right 'Ploughed Field', 1934. Watercolour.
Good morning - I hope you found the night generous. I'm starting the day with a John Nash you don't see too often - 'Norfolk Coast', oil on canvas, 1932. There are some stooks if you look. This may be #StookSaturday. Yes, I think it is.
In celebration of the #fullmoon, here's that arch practitioner of the nocturne, Sebastian Pether, with 'A Moonlit Bay, with Boatmen, Seen through a Wooded Glade', oil on a panel, c.1825–1840.
Good morning - I trust your dreams were kind to you. IF for some unknown reason you only get to drink in the detail of one fine painting today, I recommend you make it Josephine Miller's extraordinary 'The House on the Canal', oil on water, c. 1960.
'Warningcamp, Sussex' by Audrey Weber, for the book 'Hills of the South' by S. P. B. Mais, 1939.
