While on Namek, Dende gets to see all his old pals again, including Elder Muri and a little kid by the name of “Esca” (as we learn in due of time). Since Esca is clearly younger than Dende, it seems likely that he was born after the Namek arc (could he be Muri’s child?)
Also, Vegeta: officially not evil anymore! It’s good that they’ve managed to move past his Majin murder spree from two days ago.
While Goku and Vegeta manage to free Gohan and co from Buu’s body, they also revert Buu to his original form, and he immediately blows up Earth…thus killing Gohan and co. Oops. Thus the final battle begins in the Kaioshin Realm.
It’s not until the Future Trunks arc in Dragon Ball Super that we learn from Gowasu the astonishing truth about how the Potara really work. I can’t imagine why Old Kai didn’t mention such a key factor before. He must be getting senile.
Obviously this makes Day 3 a very busy day indeed, with Buu eliminating the scattered remnants of humanity and most of the main cast to boot. When Gotenks and Gohan fail to stop him, Old Kai figures it’s time to send in Goku.
To recap, Buu’s rampage is divided into three days. Day 1: the tournament is held, then Buu revives and fights Gohan/Majin Vegeta/SS3 Goku. Day 2: Gotenks is born, Old Kai starts powering up Gohan, and Buu meets Mr Satan. Day 3: Buu fights Gotenks/Gohan/Goku+Vegeta and is beaten.
This means that Mister Satan reading “A Dog of Flanders” to Buu probably marks the start of May 9th (Day 3 of Buu’s rampage, and the final battle). But more on this tomorrow. https://t.co/oZoZAmbGO7
While Gohan’s power-up takes 25 hours, it’s not clear when things pass from one day until the next (unlike the transition from Day 1 to Day 2 of Buu’s rampage, which is clearly marked by the narrator). Still, I’m guessing Super Saiyan Gotenks is another May 8th event.
Later on that same day, Buu’s Earth destruction ratio has increased to 80%. It’s at this point that Satan is sent to vanquish Buu, though he gradually ends up befriending him instead.
