It seems that all the Earth girls these days are crazy for superstar Barry Kahn. In the Buu arc he just appears in a magazine photo, but in the Super anime he gets possessed by an alien, turns into a giant monster, and fights Gohan (just as Toriyama planned all along)

@kalenshadow For whatever reason, she’s never called “Son Pan” in the series. The closest is in the GT Goku Jr special, where she has “Son” written on her house

(Yes, this means that while the Super anime includes some anime-only stuff like Gregory, it also includes this flashback to an event that only happened in the manga version of the Buu arc)

One result of all this re-arranging is that the two bank robbers Gohan and Videl stop in the manga don’t appear in the DBZ anime (well, not in the main story anyway, but they are in the opening). Regardless, they’re still back for revenge in the DBS anime.

Thus, by his first proper day of class (and the third appearance of the “Golden Warrior”) he’s already a celebrity. He can’t keep this up! After school he visits Bulma and gets his new suit around 5:12 (that’s what his watch says, anyway)

You might recall seeing Kill-Vearn play with this same chess set (or a similar one) back in episode 25. The original manga version of that earlier scene showed Kill using a generic chess set, but the anime changed it to match Vearn’s set here.

@TyzthePhoenix Yeah, the coloring for him and Shin in the colored version of the original manga seems based on Toriyama’s kanzenban 30 cover…but then the color DBS manga uses the anime coloring for them

On Tuesday: Son Gohan: Origin!

In the manga, the narrator describes Gohan as 16 as he heads off to high school (the anime leaves this out, possibly deeming it a mistake). Naturally, this would make him 9 back at the Cell Games, and 6 when Trunks first warned them of the androids. Can that really be right?
