Goku plugs the hole and reunites with Grandpa Gohan, who works with Annin now. This is OG Gohan’s final appearance outside of flashbacks (and the Jaco manga), just in time for the new Gohan to take over.
The manga of course just skips straight from the end of the tournament to Raditz’s arrival five years later, and we don’t see Goku and Chi Chi’s wedding there. In fact, the manga acts like the two of them are effectively married right at the tournament, just by agreeing to marry.
The 24th TB (the unseen tournament that Satan wins) is said to be seven years before the Buu arc, thus placing it around the same time as the Cell Games (but more on that way later). This puts a gap of eleven years between the 23rd TB in 756 and the 24th in 767.
Kami’s not the only in disguise: the demon lord Piccolo’s son has cleverly veiled his true identity by entering the tournament under the alias Ma Junior, meaning “Demon Junior”. Totally inscrutable! But just to be on the safe side, he also covers up his antenna with a turban.
And before even that, Tenshinhan confronts his past by facing the new and improved (?) Tao Pai Pai in the opening match. Easily beaten, Tao is carried off by his brother the Crane Hermit, and the two of them go live the rest of their lives in filler and video game side quests.
But before that happens, Goku learns in Round 1 that “marriage” isn’t a type of food, but instead means living together with someone indefinitely. Sounds kinda strange, but he decides to give it a go with Chi Chi. A promise is a promise after all.
This of course means that Videl’s mother isn’t Piiza, Satan’s manager who first appears in Cell Games filler, since she’s still alive and kicking when Satan wins the tournament in the Buu arc (and maintains an active career in Super).
During her flight training, Videl mentions to Gohan that her mother is dead and her father uses his “world champ” status to impress women, much to her disgust. And…that’s pretty much all the info we get. The timing and cause of Miguel’s death remains unknown.
窮鼠/“cornered rat” is used in the Japanese phrase “the cornered rat bites the cat” (see for example DB ch.221) so it fits Chiu’s desperation moves. Overall the names have a silly/pretentious feel in Japanese, so “Rattus Fastus Fist/Rocket Ram” is meant to emulate that in English
