The anime leaves out the Rockbombs from the group of Flazzard’s mooks (why yes, Rockbombs are the inspiration for the Pokémon Graveler, why do you ask?)
In fact, thanks to what is probably just a slip of the tongue, Paragus refers to berserk Broly as the “Legendary Saiyan” (no “Super”), an oddity Toyotaro reused for his description of berserk Kale, presumably in order to work around the U6 Saiyans not knowing of Super Saiyans.
The truth is, around this time Yudetamago began a spin-off series, Tatakae!! Ramenman (Fight!! Ramenman), starring an AU version of Ramenman in surreal martial arts adventures. To avoid confusion, Yude decided to limit Ramenman’s involvement in Kinnikuman going forward.
Goku likewise chants a more colloquial version of this prayer when he thinks he’s killed Sergeant Metallic, to ensure his soul will rest in peace (naturally he doesn’t realize he’s dealing with a robot), and Kuririn chants it to calm himself down against Dracula Man.
Namu identifies himself as a Buddhist, and chants the Nianfo prayer before unleashing his special attack (and of course he’s named after the Japanese version of this prayer, Namu Amida Butsu). https://t.co/GpJsikxvVc
The Japanese expression here is 地獄に仏, “a Buddha in hell”. It has the same basic meaning of relief amidst harsh circumstances. One Piece ch.537 (and vol.55) is named after this phrase, with a slight twist.
I’m used to the fact that the violence is going to be toned down compared to the manga and 90s anime, but it’s still rather disappointing that they can’t even show Crocodine cutting mystic suits of armor in half.
The primitive Saiyans in DBZ ep.20 (also designed by Toriyama) wear simple animal skins, but this could just be an earlier stage in their development. Still, Toyotaro (ever the harmonizer) shows background characters dressed like that on U6’s Sadala.
That’s it for this week. Caucasus Man’s beetle theme seems like a nice counter to Mammoth Man’s tusks, and his personality seems suitably noble (closer to The Natural than jerks like Rampage Man/Bicorn). Interested to see how the gas flames will factor into the fight.
