That’s right, Toyble’s fan manga has Tapion (a Future Trunks stand-in) becomes Shin’s disciple and thereby gain special powers. I wonder what that Toyble guy’s up to these days?

Tonally, vol.3 obviously marks the transition from the quest/gag material of the first two volumes into the martial arts content that the series is most known for. Appropriately then, this is also the first appearance of Goku’s trademark Turtle School uniform.

(Another sidelight: the English word ジャケット/jacket is commonly used in Japanese to refer to the chest piece in Saiyan armor. “Battle jacket” sounds cool enough in English, but I guess they figured “jacket” on its own would be confusing and went with “armor” for Whis’ line)

“Freeza Clan” might be convenient from a real world perspective, since Freeza’s obviously the most prominent member, but in-universe it’s hard to believe they’ve always been called that, unless the “Freeza” name has been passed down among the clan, Vegeta-style.

Either way, Shallot from the game DB Legends and his twin brother Giblet are ancient Saiyans who are said to be descended from Super Saiyan God. And Cumber from DB Heroes is an ancient evil Saiyan who seems to recognize the red-haired SSG form.

I uh...I think “air” or “void” probably would’ve worked a lot better here, translation-wise.
