@HokutoAndy @Richmond_Lee Yeah, I really like Angus's paintings of Mesoamerican soldiers and some life scenes, tho he tends to depict non-martial clothing and building interiors as pretty drab, in contrast to say @Zotzcomic, @AztecEmpire1520, Scott/Stuart Gentling, @ohs688 ,
etc. (if you want more lmk!)
@HokutoAndy @Richmond_Lee And of course, a few centuries earlier in Mesoamerica
(Images are from the Codex Mendoza, Angus Mcbride, and kamikazuh)
@crisperstorm Agreed
I don't mind distinct armor if there's a lot of visual unity between sets (Reachs concept art did this amazingly well, it's one base suit with diff. attachments) or slight physique differences between men and women, but Reach/4 making the women look super skinny was weird
@KinZaibatsu91 @hexedwithluck The best part about this is I wouldn't even be surprised if this happened in official Digimon media.
There's a Digimon that's a giant dragon made entirely out of handguns/revolvers; The games cover address trafficking & organ harvesting; have explicitly LGBT characters, etc.
@ArloStuff The game itself may have serious issues, but the character design is absolutely incredible
@Rythayze @ClebMaher I personally think NOBLE team wearing different armor would have worked fine (and even as is I don't mind it) if the game made it more obvious that all the armor uses the same base suit just with different attachments
The concept art makes this more obvious
@translationmon No problem, always happy to share info!
I have an even longer writeup on a google doc, too, that links to images/visual examples. If you want access (or ever have questions about Mesoamerica in general) shoot me a DM!
Here's some I have on hand, too (info in descriptions)
@crisperstorm I'm not worried about the basic Infinite hunters.
I'm worried that Infinite won't have all the weird, cool alternate hunter forms that HW2 had. Like the Goliaths, Captains, Ironclads, etc
@Kanozu_ This is bad call IMO
The fire SHOULDN'T be active at all times, that doesn't make sense, It only being on during attacks was fine.
People just thought Typhlosion looked off without fire because poor idle posing & pudgy proportions. No fire Typhlosion CAN look cool if done right
@stopmrdomino @Richmond_Lee I'm a huge fan of Digimon's commitment to rule of cool, (like dinosaurs made entirely out of revolvers, or mary poppings baphomet); how so many designs exude 90's grungy/punk/Gross-out art; and that there's no fixed evolutions mean making your own headcanon evo lines is fun
