@Alibrarylady @nicolakidsbooks @f33lthesun @TinyOwl_Books @rcharlesworth @jonnybid @KSunray3 @PaulWat5 I also worked out that when she's looking out across the cityscape she has purposefully got an apartment that allows her to see across to the zoo. Lovely touch.
@tygertale @Enchantedbooks @smithsmm @sophieinspace @mv_castrillon @mrjamesmayhew @bookloverJo @burstofbeaden @gumdraw @jack_m_brown Yoikes! What a question. My four would change every time and in this instance much is influenced by the memories I associate with them rather than whether I think they're the best in terms of design:
@tygertale @nickswarb @Alibrarylady @thamesandhudson @marygtroche A very lot John Burningham. I actually thought it was when I picked it up. McDonnell openly says it's autobiographical when it very interesting. Much like this in some respects
Here is my annual tweet to Alexis Deacon.
Dear Alexis Deacon,
Please never stop writing and/or illustrating picturebooks. Or, as
a compromise, when you've finished the Geis graphic novels, please can you write one for younger readers too.
With thanks and best wishes,
Mat
@StephenConnor7 @KarlDuke8 @smithsmm @KSunray3 Some wonderful choices already (I think I'll second some). These could be used in LKS2 (or even UKS2 depending on cohort/teacher)
@sophieinspace I managed to find a little time tonight to head back into Ruslan and Ludmila (Canto 3). In the same way that I stopped to read the story of Math, Son of Mathonwy when the first hint was given in The Owl Service, so I feel my reading will be richer. Thank you.
@MeakerR @one_to_read @toddstanton1 @sam_creighton @rcharlesworth @RuddickRichard @richreadalot @jonnybid @fella_jane @PaulWat5 @f33lthesun You know, one of our students, @charlotte_kempy made a super cross-curricular plan around Marcy which is available on the padlet and here. LOTS of smashing ideas and a lovely reading of the text. I hope it proves useful. https://t.co/R1rTDwEy4h
@emilyreadnext @Teacherglitter Apparently I couldn't hold back. Here are 4 beautiful choices for UKS2:
@BookIslandBooks @sophieinspace @AlisonP170906 @smithsmm Beautiful choices so far. Alison, I am sure you know about the work of David Wiesner (basically almost all of his) and all of @storybreathing too will be well worth investing in. I found Stormy through @smithsmm
