Fought #OnThisDay 13 Sept 1759 The Battle of The Plains of Abraham/The Battle of Quebec. Following a siege General Wolfe decided to lead his troops up steep rocky cliffs. The battle proved to be a deciding event in the conflict between France & Britain.
The storming of San Sebastian took place #OnThisDay 31 August 1813. Thomas Graham's forces of British & Portuguese troops ran from trenches & into the breach. It led to the Peninsular War reaching the Pyrenees & France.
The city was sacked despite officer's attempts to stop it.
Fought #OnThisDay 11 August 1812, The Battle of Majadahonda. An Imperial French cavalry division led by General Trelliard attack 2 brigades of cavalry under Colonel Benjamin d'Urban, which formed the advance guard of Arthur Wellesley, Earl of Wellington's army.

#OnThisDay 1814 Napoleon left France for exile on Elba. On the night of April 28th, Napoleon boarded the British frigate HMS Undaunted at Fréjus on the French coast. It was a 2 day journey (3 in 1815)
He was on Elba a little over 8 months before escaping.
