Attack of the El Rey Cavalry at the Pajar de Vergara, Battle of Talavera, 28th July 1809.

Chasing down French infantry, whilst British Line troops cheer on the relief.

Talavera was a closely fought battle, an especially bloody victory, but a celebrated one still.

Greek Light Infantry.

Raised on the Ionian islands 1810, immediately saw action at Leucadia. Stated at Zante with around 800 men.

Hesitant to embark to Sicily, when reviewed there, no field officers (Major & above) were found, described as "indifferent".

Disbanded 24 May 1816

British Brigadier General Robert Thomas Wilson & his small escort with Russian troops at the Battle of Tarutino - October 1812.

In August 1812, Wilson accompanied by 5 men of the 20th Dragoons, to the main theater of hostilities that of the French invasion of Russia.

Fought 13 Oct 1812 The Battle of Queenstown Heights

Fought between US forces vs British regulars, militia & Mohawk warriors, led by Major General Isaac Brock who was killed.

The battle was a failed attempt by the US to establish a foothold north of the Niagara River.

71st Highland Light Infantry skirmish in an Iberian town.

As a light infantry regiment, they were one of the few Highland regiment to wear trouser rather than kilts.

They also suffered one of the highest casualty rates (a mixture of disease/climate as well as enemy action)

At the Battle of Buçaco, newly raised Portuguese regiments fought side by side with the British (along with Irish & German) regiments.

Though some Milita ran, the line & Cacadores were noted for their professionalism & bravely.

Earning the respect of the British Army.
