Something about these two images is REALLY gelling with the tone I want The Mermaid's Quest to have. And I can totally see her doing something like the scene in the first image or having a dream that's like the second one. Ariel's desire to be Human doesn't come close to hers.
What do you guys think of the Mermaid in The Mermaid's Quest being pink? For me, it reminds me of some types of coral & sea anemones, plus I think it avoids her looking too much like Ariel. Perhaps the pink tail could be contrasted with a blue upper body?
Thoughts?
So, if Disney is making a black Ariel, what race is my Mermaid character in The Mermaid’s Quest? A MERMAID! Her humanoid portions are going to be inspired by tropical fish. She isn’t “coded” as any kind of IRL demographic. Because that’s not how I roll.⬇️
Ok, this image depicts EXACTLY the kind of dynamic I want for the Human/Mermaid couple in The Mermaid’s Quest. He helps her get around on land & she helps him in the water. They don’t let their limitations stop them from having fun together.

My Merfolk have fins that double as “wings” that let them glide like flying fish for various distances, depending on conditions. They also have long, serpentine tails that provide limited mobility on land. But they’re at their best in the water.
“Miss Perdita, what is your opinion of Lemorna Teague?”
“Simply this, Ronald: She is the best example of how a father who spoils his daughter does her no favors. Hers should have told her ‘no’ & given her a good spanking more often. His ‘kindness’ produced a monster.”
I’m considering that while Nightshade was attending the Ivory Tower (20s-30s but had the body of a 14-15 year old) he had a Goblin valet/lackey (working name Delxa.) The Ivory Tower provides valets to all students, but nobody was willing to take her as a servant.⬇️
“Yes, I am a Champion of Time, on & off. Mostly, I make very brief treks into the past to catch Interlopers before they can alter events. The most I’ve said to significant historic figures is, ‘Pardon the interruption. You can return to your business.’”
