Sawsbuck represents the month of Janurary in the Unova Horoscope. It's lucky item is the White Flute. Sawsbuck corresponds with the real life zodiac symbol of Capricorn.
According to interviews with Astuko Nishida and Ken Sugimori, the Bulbasaur line are based on frogs. Bulbasaur was based directly on Venusaur, with Venusaur of the three being designed first. This can be seen in running animations, with Venusaur having long legs and hopping.
In Sword and Shield, every Pokemon type uniform has a sponsor, using the logos to represent these companies. The Normal Type's sponsor is Silph Co., from Red and Green. The Silph logo is not seen anywhere else in the game and originates from HeartGold and SoulSilver.
