The ANAD Iron Man series should be a textbook example of how *not* to launch a franchise.

Again the series suffered from the same problems as the Inhumans did, with Marvel telling the fans "Iron Man is Spider-Man now. Deal with it" without consulting them about it.(8/12)

The Inhumas were practically a non-starter right from the jump, as no one was really on board with the Inhumans effectively replacing the X-Men as the empowered minority hated and feared by the world they are sworn to protect. But Marvel was dead set on making this a thing.(6/12)

And, again, there was a real attempt to make it stick.

Cyclops got his own book. They tried to retcon it that they were here for good. They made major changes.

But in the end they were shipped off, and no one seems to care that they're gone.(5/12)

The O5 X-Men also seemed like an interesting idea to shake things up.

But as time progressed, it again because clear this was an idea without any sort of story to it, but that it was an attempt to work around stupid editorial restrictions...(4/12)

And Marvel really have Red Hulk the old college try, as the character appeared on EMH, joined the Avengers, was a major character on Agents of SMASH, and even led the Thunderbolts.

Now he's more of a footnote than anything else...(3/12)

The Red Hulk had some promise. But he fell victim to the Alonso era staple of being an "Idea without an ending."

The story dragged on beyond the point readers stopped really caring about the central mystery, or the major changes that it caused.(2/12)

The Thing wasn't a character who could run and hide. He had no "Off" switch for what he had become. He was stuck in this body, and it wasn't something that could just go away.

Not only has this caused stagnation in the title, it also prevents those coming in to "Fix the fix" to not truly have substantive runs of their own, since they have to be preoccupied with undoing the legitimate mess of those that came before them, which is an unfair burden.

One of the more frustrating aspects of Spider-Man's history is how it was dogged by run's trying to "Fix" what wasn't broken, but which invariably spun off into increasingly ludicrous and damaging directions, necessitating others to step in to fix the "Fix."
