Only just discovered this very good review of my #cryptozoology book with @thejohnconway and @cmkosemen, Cryptozoologicon Volume I: https://t.co/Q17MSV55ux Thanks indeed @ChristinaBooks. Volume II is in preparation right now.
Time to add more #whales to my thread of toy and model #cetaceans. We start with the 2017 @SafariLtd right whale. Look at the excellent detail on its callosities (those big islands of tough, white tissue on the head and jaw)... #animalmodels #toyanimals #toys
Join us in #Falmouth from March 20th onwards for MONSTERS OF THE DEEP, a new exhibition at the National Maritime Museum, devoted to sea monster lore and the discovery of deep-sea life. Featuring #cryptozoology, mythology, deep-sea animals and more... https://t.co/Sm6gATthoK
@MarkScherz made a thing, Charlie Underwood modified it, and there's an older version that did a similar thing... #TeamFish
You want more neat #fish? We have Red-spotted hawkfish (what even _are_ hawkfish? All over the percomorph tree, that's what) AND Valentini's sharpnose puffer, one of the most toxic of fish...
One of the most amazing animals there is Bolt, the electric eel (remember: electric eels are not eels at all, they're gymnotiforms; part of the knifefish group). Bolt was smuggled into the UK in a briefcase in 2012, and intercepted at Heathrow. She has doubled in size since then.
And the phone I've had for the past few years (Samsung Galaxy S8/9) has a camera that's good enough for insect photography...
@TimVersteeg4 Huge #matamata fan :) (a whole series of articles written on them in the #TetZoo archives).
I want there to be a zoo that's just #turtles. So you get to see hundreds of species (instead of just 4 or 5), of all environments and continents. A World of Turtles.
