I'm in no paint mode until I've lopped a few slices off the admin taskpile but doodling is allowed- here's a Short-eared owl taking a swat at an Arctic Fox, who is nae bothered.
Into the circle of hell they calleth Ipswich last week and with admin done sloped into the Ogilvie Collection at museum to reflect on the stuffies- here's a caseful from time when barbed wire had already been invented but LSW were still so common they even nested in fenceposts.
Back on the paint again. Here's a Teal from earlier this week flaring the dark wedge that most times sits hidden below the end of its mane.
Today my first day's birding off-patch since May 2021 I do believe, greatly aided with @DavidWalsh22 as guide and @JohnLoweMottram as spotter. Here in gifmotion should be the zapata moustache of the super lovely Shore Lark.
Here's one to make you scratch your head for a moment- these two Knotties Y6YRPY and YRPR were ringed consecutively in the same catch on the Waddensee in September 2020 and feeding right next to each other off Mistley y'day. Soz for no photo
Time for a Whinchat gif. This one on the seawall mid-week doing the stabilised head thing whilst the wind tugged at the dogrose.
So easy to forget to paint for fun. This was the underpainting this eve for little reedfringed Suffolky shorepool with waders but after half an hour of smearing it about, in go the wolves hunting wildboar in the snow.
Nice to be out in the blustery weather this AM- here's Greenshank roosters stalking into the lee of the salting as the wind freshened.
Not a good sign when you have to explain a paint, but anyway this is meant to be a 15cm of LRP scooting through the shadow cast by a 40cm of Mute Swan's cast primary last week.
