You know those portraits where the eyes follow you round the room? Today's Hobby paint is the opposite in that wherever you stand it is still more interested in looking over your right shoulder at chasers buzzing over the marsh.

Here was a bit of late spring atmos. this AM- pair of Med Gulls picking up insects in flight amongst the Brents. Too hot to paint- instead colour is skidded onto a scanned drawing using the computah.

Here was a very nice thing this afternoon- unsquashed Polecat hunting rabbits on home turf. I think they are quite common here now- anyone know if resurgent Polecats affect Stoat populations?

I do hope all are doing as OK as can be out there. Concentration very tricky with all this ongoing bad, but here's a Hobby paint today, working it out in acrylic before oils go on top, which as a method is basically the art equivalent of riding a bike with the safety wheels on.

Treecreeper trouble- I tried a careful paint of one on the peeling bark of a cherry today but it turned out so yawn I hosed the oils off and parked it. Version 2 done with marker pen and looks like the bird is ascending the weapon of a Dalek.

A collaborative effort from sunny yesterday- my daughter kindly ran up a 3D model on her computer to show how a straight branch can throw a curvy shadow the shape of hula hoop round a Greenfinch.

PS no idea why the gif has come out without colour- should have pink and brown bits like nougat but whatever..

Here was a lovely thing today- Woodcock slowly fanning and then furling its tail.

Getting rolling again with them paints- here's a lumphead divebeast surfacing on NYD with a small flat fish thing.

Bonus feature- a very perky young drake Long-tailed Duck on the Orwell today.
