Displaying Lapwing swivelling in stubble this AM and flushing green and purple as he turns in and out of the light- so i have tried to run a drawing through the sheen machine on the computah.
Spring is still happening out there somewhere- here's the joy of a Yellow Wag high-stepping through long grass down in the marsh this PM.
As the astronomers say, things don't have to be close to be classy. The Stour Slavs were constellated at about one mile range yesterday so no red eyes to dot in.
A bit of extreme lovely to watch this PM- the shrike was having its flank feathers lightly quiffed by the wind. Fast-track execution this one- done by grabbing a dusty old GGS painting from the rack and whiting in the fluffy bits.
Still blowing out there- top sight on WeBS was herons shedding air to whiffle down into the marsh.
Not often I have found myself painting a wooodpeckerrr whilst listening to England win a test match abroad. Anyway, here's a flufffed-up Three-toed Woodpecker brooched on a branch snapped and split by weight of snow. The usual unTwitter-friendly vertical format I am afraid.
Rain...I got this close to starting a sensitive rendering of a GGS in white charcoal on blue card blah blah. Then I thought sod it, let's just draw it on a bit of A4 and make sure bird looks like it has just been caught doing something bad and doesn't care.
Hobby season nearly done- here's paint on the purple piece from June. 5-6 pairs in 7Km x 7Km round here this year which translates to a lovely 10prs / hectad if my maths is right. https://t.co/c7K4pstAzn
simple pleasures- Osprey in the bay so the godwits fled and I could just enjoy it splooshing after mullet.
I'm behind on paint again- here's a just done of Turtle Dove in elder from week before last. I decided to underpaint the whole thing the colour of an elderberry first and then rack the goods in on top, so there's plenty of purple bits showing through in strange places.
