Sandstone stripes are ever-present, cutting across each stack, boulder & cliff. They mirror what you find: stratum of the past. The skeleton of a crashed spaceship, rotting hull of a boat, the bones of some extinct creature, an ancient temple. Like tasty, temporal cake layers!

Sable shaping up beautifully. There's much to love, but I think I have a fav: look at the vivid bands of sandstone! Sediment rings of deep time. Sable has everything to do with layers of history, archaeology & strata. The crushed temporal ribbons are a fantastic symbol of that.

Philippe Cazaumayou aka Caza, another French comics artist and Heavy Metal alumni.

Paul Bonner's artwork for "Trudvang", a tabletop RPG based on Nordic and Celtic sagas and myths. I will say, the landscapes look suitable bleak!

Philippe Druillet's "Salammbô", which is a psychedelic sci-fi adaptation of Gustave Flaubert's historical novel on the cruel and bloody Mercenary War which took place in Carthage during the 3rd century BC.

French comics artist Philippe Druillet. Another Métal Hurlant founder, and nicknamed the "Space Architect". These are from Urm le fou / Urm the Mad (1975)--although I also think there's some overlap with Druillet's "Elric of Melnibone" adaptation (even the best, recycle)!

The kaleidoscopic landscapes of legendary French comic artist Jean "Moebius" Giraud. These are all from his comic "Arzach" (or Harzak, Arzak, Harzakc?) originally published in Métal Hurlant/Heavy Metal magazine.

Joseph Gandy—visionary architect, the "English Piranesi", hopeless romantic!

French comic book illustrator Vincent Perriot. You can watch him draw & paint the first picture, "6 Minutes Before Apocalypse", on YouTube. The second and third images come from his work on post-apoc dinosaur comic "Negalyod". https://t.co/xWCYU2EBp0
