@EpicSkidmarks There were quite a few weird and wonderful cars available on Aminet, if you wanted to mess about with the game a bit more. (I don't recall ever downloading any tracks from there, though there may have been some. Not sure.) Hovercraft, wheelchairs.. You name it, someone made it 😁
@EpicSkidmarks ..and, if you have an AGA machine, you have to try the super-high-res screen modes. (They work pretty well when playing four-player on a big-screen TV. Tried that out at a friends place once. Great party game.) 👍
@EpicSkidmarks Then you can try a few races with the caravans.. Because the only thing funnier than racing cows, is racing cows with caravans. 😁 (Then I get to thinking: if there were no hardware limits, what else could be on the back? Boats? Houses? Long Loads? Chains of Caravans?) 😋
@EpicSkidmarks I broke out the Amiga emulator yesterday. A chance to make a few skidmarks of my own. 😋 After getting distracted for five minutes by the breakout game on the title screen a had a quick (?) play-through of all the tracks. Man it gets so manic on the quicker modes. 😮
@C64TimeLine Wasn't the timeline:
Crowther makes Loco.
Crowther makes Suicide Express (a faster future Loco).
Crowther and Gremlin have a falling-out, so he tweaks Express (sold under the Gremlin label) to make Black Thunder.
🤔 I still prefer Suicide Express just because it looks coolest. 😁
@JazRignall Good reviews in this. 👍 Batalyx, Scarabaeus, ACE, and Crazy Comets, were all games that I spent a huge amount of time on. And I think Jaz is onto something here, talking about the Hubbard music. I think Hubbard was at his peak here. (I use the Comets high-score for my alarm) 😁
@Bhaal_Spawn I was going to do a bhaal_spawn fake-back-story take on it, and mention how the game would start to melt if you took it too close to the sun.. 🌞 But it's Monday morning here, and my brain still isn't functioning well enough to invent such prose. 😋
@Bhaal_Spawn I loved the intro to Sam n Max.
I should have played it more. But I did really enjoy leaving the game with no input, and seeing what screen savers would come up. (This and Full Throttle had their one 'screen savers' .. not sure if any other SCUMM games did.) 😎
@C64Reloaded The Amiga version looks like is should be better, but somehow it just doesn't *feel* as good. (It's a slower too.) 🤔 They are both fun to play in their own right. But, amazingly, there are several things on the C64 verison that they managed to handle better than the Amiga port.
