@prowler_GFX Man, I played a ton of International Karate Ultimate, but have no recollection of that background. 🤔 Looks like more play-testing is required. 😁
@DetectingRetro @gamesyouloved Some good games there. 👍
My old breadbin setup looked very similar. (Same basic model of Datasette, except it was the standard cream coloured one.) And, of course, the joysticks changed over the years, as each one inevitably broke.
😋
@particlesbbs @10MARC1 I should have gone PC at the time. But I knew a lot of Amiga guys, and the 16 bit games that were coming out at the time were still kinda awesome. By the time I got the Amiga 1200 Commodore was in trouble. But I stuck with these exotic planar-gfx machines, and don't regret it. 😁
@particlesbbs @10MARC1 Yeah, you're exactly right. The Amiga and ST were a huge step up from the 8-bit machines before them. And titles like Sidewinder, Gauntlet 2, Leathernecks, and the original (16-bit) International Karate were all games I first played on ST. They were amazing to see. Loved them. 👍
@10MARC1 @particlesbbs Not that the ST was bad. It's MIDI capability was excellent, and I believe it had better buffering on the IO ports. But the Amiga had an extra bit of colour-depth (two, if you count extra-halfbrite), smooth horizontal scrolling, and superb sound capabilities in comparison. 🤔
@10MARC1 @particlesbbs The ST appealed coz it came out before the Amiga. But when the Amiga arrived, people quickly started to shift to it, if they could afford to. Sidewinder and Paradroid are good examples of games that were good on the ST, but definitely better on the Amiga due to sound/scrolling.
@AtliJarl @EverythingC64 @Lenovo @LenovoThinkPad @LenovoIN Yeah. The music is especially good.
Nothing technically brilliant about it, but it compliments the game so well.
👍
@CommodoreBlog For me, that will always be the "One Man and His Droid" music.
Excellent game.
😎
@OldSchoolBooks1 @JamesPond47 Yeah, I'd seen some really excellent Ultimate Play the Game published games on my friend's Spectrum, then got Karnath, and Entombed, which I enjoyed on the C64. Then it went Blackwych (meh), Outlaws (impossible-hard), and Imhotep (ghastly - I've lost the faith.) 😐
@The_Real_Riggz @JamesPond47 @C64Reloaded Looking at that "Entombed" ending text once more..
Look! They haven't even bothered to properly centre the upper line of text! There are three spaces on the left, and only one on the right. 😐
That's just gonna irritate me every time I see it now. 🤣
