Retrogaming of the 8 and 16 bit variety. That's my jam. 😎

Iridis Alpha is one of Jeff Minter's best shoot-em-ups on the C64. Fast, with many conflicting tasks to worry about, you really had to be in 'the zone' to be playing this effectively. And he seemed to have mastered his ability to throw sprites all over the screen with abandon. 😁

Also, those floating sprites in the air.. very reminiscent of Shadow of the Beast (second picture), which is impressive for a C64 game to remind me of that. 😎

That little bit of vertical parallax is a nice touch. Loving the way it's coming together so far. 👍 Looks like a healthy mix of Falcon Patrol II and Choplifter. (Both C64 favourites of mine.) 😁

Loved International Soccer ⚽️ .. also loved International Basketball. 🏀 Oddly enough, I never tried International Tennis 🎾 despite seeing the glowing review in Zzap!64. 🤔 Probably coz I never gravitated towards sports games, and already had Match Point, which was okay. 👍

I have to find this side-two version of Karateka now .. this is brilliant. 👍

Now I've got the music playing in my head.. 😋

I was so so addicted to Ninja 1 and 2, before I got the Amiga. 🤔 ..I don't know what it was about Ninja 3. It never grabbed me somehow.

Ah, you got foiled by an inventory bug eh?
I sat down for my great play-through of the whole game .. was determined to do it .. got further than ever .. then the code-sheet check. There are mistakes in that code sheet. 😮 I was stuck. (Many swear-words were shouted that night) 😐

Yeah.
This is what I like about the new 8-bit games.. people aren't trying to use all 16 colours on every screen, and dither the colours everywhere. They find a nice simple art style, and it just looks super super cool. 😎

The inertial control-scheme is beautiful, as is the adorable story and GFX. But the thing that really kills me about it is the incredible music. 🎵😮 There are many tracks, but the main one is such a beautiful blend of Battlestar Galactica and The Hitch-Hiker's Guide. Love it! 😎
