@000Angus000 @C64Reloaded Aztec is a really funky game. I believe it came to the C64 from the Apple II (hence it's character-based graphic gorgeousness), but it's got a messy kinda art style to it that I quite like. Everything has this semi-abstract threatening look to it that creates a feeling of danger.
@TheReaperUK @duke_unreal Ah, interesting. I might have seen this one before but used WHDLoad once I had WASD controls in that. 🤔 Nice option there to save the password though. That's one of the things I don't like about some older games. I'm often going between computers, so lose things I write down. 😐
@Bhaal_Spawn @ComChia430 Out of the box, OpenXCom will play as the DOS game, with the original GFX, fonts and MIDI music. 😮 Heck, you can even play it at the original screen resolution if you really want. But you get the nice bug-fixes, mouse-wheel support, and many little extras to make life easier. 👍
@Bhaal_Spawn @ComChia430 The nice thing with using OpenXCom these days is that I can mod it with the Amiga/PS1 music+fonts and it feels like a beautiful merger between the DOS/Amiga games. There's even an option for "all day missions".. I really did get sick of having to throw flares everywhere. haha. 😂
@Bhaal_Spawn @ComChia430 No night missions may have been because of the relatively slow Amiga CPUs. 🤔 But it really didn't feel optimised, making me think that they didn't have time for optimisation before it went out, and maybe no time to implement darkness. I didn't mind. Throwing flares is a pain. 😁
@ComChia430 @Bhaal_Spawn ..oh yeah: The PS1 and Amiga versions used a different font too. Has a funky stylised look to it. 🤓
The Amiga version didn't have night-time missions implemented.. all missions were day-time, even though you can bring along flares. 😁 And the geoscape had an untextured globe.
@mattgrayc64 Best loaded off tape .. with all the different music before each level.. 👍
@Honzinac_ Hey, how does the white spy have a black hat?
That's not right.
Though it's lower resolution, I like the C64 one. It somehow manages the cute cartoony look well. 😁
