@SteveRudland @atari_st_fan Some of the very first 16-bit games I saw were on a friend's shiny new Atari ST. (They were always the first to buy cool new gadgets.) Speedball, Gauntlet II, Leathernecks, Sidewinder, etc. Speedball was the one that's stood the test of time best. And it had an excellent sequel.
@CrazyCollector1 I should probably get hold of this one, dust off the XBox and give it a go. 🤔 I mean, I can't play GoldenEye forever..
Or can I?
😄
@atari_st_fan There was a lot of loading on the 8-bit version. But those interstitial screens were so so well done. 😎
@atari_st_fan Obviously the C64 version was never going to look as good at the Amiga/ST versions. But, all things considered, it was a pretty good looking game..
@MissMiaw @RetroGameGeeks @Amiga_Paradise @Amiga_Square @jasha_jasha @RetroFeeder @UndeadToTheEnd @MiracleMan82 @PrinceWatercres @CiskoNokia @Cerabelum1 Yeah, the jungle section is gorgeous. The hover-trains were nicely done. And there were definitely one or two sections, participating in the game show, where I was really ready to rage-quit. 😡
@atari_st_fan Now, as much as I love the Amiga, this is a game where it has to be admitted that the Atari ST version is the better version. The Amiga one was rushed. The ST version was just more complete. (Though, generally, I still love to go back to the C64 version, with its SID music.) 😄
@RetroGameGeeks @Amiga_Paradise @Amiga_Square @jasha_jasha @MissMiaw @RetroFeeder @UndeadToTheEnd @MiracleMan82 @PrinceWatercres @CiskoNokia @Cerabelum1 Flashback really is a gorgeous looking game.
The game-show section, and some pieces after that were too hard though. Even with cheats activated, it was still a challenge. 😋
@omen121 @CommodoreBlog The timing on the C64 version is really unforgiving.
Last year I tried out the ZX Spectrum and Amstrad versions and, though I'm team-C64 all the way, in this case the Amstrad version is so so much more playable. It feels like they finessed the controls and got them right. 👍
