In my early paintings, I meticulously painted every part of the image. All my edges were sharp and clean, and even minute objects in the background were highly detailed. This was extremely time consuming, all ultimately didn't give my paintings the look and feel I was seeking.
Some detail shots of my latest piece, Darkspire! Something I continually struggle with as a painter is how much detail to include in my pieces. At what point am I applying brushstrokes beyond what are needed to communicate my intentions for the piece?

Darkspire, 2020. This piece was inspired by a photo of a stained glass window I took awhile ago and the flavor of Beksinki's cathedral paintings. Stained glass windows feel like they lead to other worlds, and I liked the idea of one that actually does!

@noahbradley Had to go back a ways, but this one is definitely round brush-only! It was so important to learn how to render textures manually before employing some of the shortcuts I use now.
I see World Engine (pic1) as a spiritual companion to Forge Fires of Eternity (pic2: both evoke an industrial, mechanistic perspective on the world combined with the organic qualities of the landscapes of which they are a part. You can pick up both during my upcoming Kickstarter!
Here's some of my #BlueArt, though I've got some other colors creeping in there...I'm looking at you, yellow!
