I like how Matt and Gabumon don't ever have to exchange words ever. They just know. The harmonica will do all the talking.
It's your standard penultimate episode trope, at least one I'm familiar with in Sentai, when the kids are facing impending doom and things look bad. That's when they look back and remember they are capable of anything.
Tai never stopped believing in Matt, and Matt is moved by it so much, his Crest allows Garurumon to... do something to WarGreymon to restore him back to normal!
I get that they wanted the two guys who were finding their "paths" to help Sora out, but I think Biyomon got robbed of an emotional moment of trying to save Sora. Yeah, it would've mirrored Gabumon's a bit, but give Biyomon something to work with!
I like that Joe followed his own path and already completed his mission with no darkness swallowing him whatsoever. His seniority over the others gives him wisdom.
There are some strange phrases thrown into this whole scene, but it gets a lot better when Matt dives deep into his feelings of being lonely since he and his brother lived apart. It's really touching and is the strongest moment between these two.
