@Mat_at_Brookes @Mrs_OBoyle @MissRMorris_ @KimberlyTethera @geckopress @KSunray3 @jonnybid @JennaLucas81 @MrEPrimary @brookes_edu @f33lthesun Yes! So many of my favourite picturebook texts have themes surrounding the water and journeys.
@mattheweduk @one_to_read @jonnybid @KSunray3 @Alibrarylady @Mat_at_Brookes @Nicola_M_N_ @robin2reader @brassoteach Has to be ‘The Arrival’ by Shaun Tan for me. So rich. Diverse. A story that still needs to be told.
Wordless art that children can bring meaning to.

@SarahWeaving2 @RogMcDonald @TeresaCremin @smithsmm @jonnybid @son1bun @Jo_Bowers @Mat_at_Brookes @one_to_read @RS_Hargreaves @PaulWat5 @OpenUni_RfP Such a great choice. I love the scratchiness of the text. Think I saw one copy where it had been changed, typed. Completely different read.
Feel free to add and comment. I hope the discussion will grow overnight. #OURfPBookBlether
One of my most memorable read alouds in Y6 was based on @nicolakidsbooks and @CathyFisherArt’s ‘The Pond’. A powerful, empathetic and deeply affecting read. The children’s book talk included the themes of loss, family & the importance of the natural world.

One of my recent favourites has been David Almond & Levi Pinfold’s ‘The Dam’. It’s a beautifully crafted picturebook with themes of loss, hope and the restorative power of music. Set in Kielder Water, Northumberland.
What are some of your favourites for 7-11?

@one_to_read Continue to develop the quality and ingenuity of them. There are several ‘games’ which have told deeply personal, affective narratives and there’s something in these that I feel could ‘add’ to the reading/reader’s experience. Need to ponder it some more.

@son1bun @kashleyenglish @KSunray3 After these:
Might have to do my own translation work as many are only available in Spanish/French.
A superb stop for any young (or indeed older) comic-book / art fans. https://t.co/m002JMpjHA
@MissR_Stroud @TeresaCremin @PaulWat5 @JosephACoelho @FL_Childrens @Mat_at_Brookes How lucky to be at a point in time where emotional literacy can be so accessible through a range of quality picturebook texts.
