28 November 1940. Death of Helmut Paul Emil Wick (b.5 August 1915). German WWII fighter ace, the fourth recipient of the Knight's Cross abd Iron Cross with Oak Leaves, the nation's highest military decoration at the time. Killed in his Bf 109 E-4 in the vicinity of Isle of Wight.

27 November 1916. The Kaiserliche Marine (Imperial German Navy) Zeppelin LZ 78 (L-34) R-class, was shot down by Second Lieutenant Ian Pyott in Royal Aircraft Factory B.E.2c (2738). All 20 crewmen were killed when it crashed in Tees Bay, off Hartlepool.
