25 September 1909. The Lebaudy République, French semi-rigid airship, crashed after one of the metal propeller blades sheared off its shaft and pierced the envelope, which deflated catastrophically near the Château of Avrilly, killing all four men on board.

19 September 1946. The Avro 691 Lancastrian, British transport derived from the Lancaster bomber for testing jet and turboprop engines, acted as the world's first jet airliner making three passenger flights carrying press representatives, Ministry officials and other passengers.
