This portrait of Egyptian feminist Nawal El Saadawi was commissioned by TIME Magazine for their Women Of The Year project which put influential 20th century women on the cover, finally!💪✊

The landscape is based on Kati Kati in NZ & the red circle is something that featured in my work a decade ago. I'm still mulling over why it's returned but it seems to hint at mystery, strangeness, threat & uncertainty.
Untitled, 2020
150 x 100 cm
Available - DM if interested
New work! The first in a new series embarked on in lockdown. All explore distance & home, isolation, the outside world & nature as a source of comfort / threat.
As yet untitled (any suggestions?)

I love exhibiting and all that it entails but it is so good to finally be back at the easel. First proper painting day in a month. Still a lot of admin / transport / sales to tie up post exhibition but for now enjoying exploring colour in this large portrait
