One of my favourite books to gift a new baby is Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes by Mem Fox and Helen Oxenbury - such a charming rhyming text and the illustrations are sublime. Avail in board book too. #BookElves2020 #BooksforBabies
@RiceIvor If they like Roald Dahl they might like the Danger is Everywhere series by David O'Doherty, illustrated by Chris Judge - very funny! Or the Artemis Fowl series or the Fowl Twins books by @EoinColfer or Boot by @shanehegarty or the @judi_curtin books

@joanne_t_king I'd suggest fast paced books with lots of illustrations. And I'm a huge fan of graphic novels. The @goraina books for age 9+ are terrific - well written and full of wisdom. Guts is about a girl who worries and learns to overcome it. #bookelves2020
One of my favourite #picturebooks of the last few years is What I Like Most by Mary Murphy, illustrated by Zhu Cheng-Liang, a simple yet profound look at a young girl’s ever-changing favourite things. Sublime watercolour illustrations. Age 4/5 + #bookelves2020 #IrishBooks
This week’s #CreativeBursts are all about friendship. Here are some of my favourite friendships in children’s books - Charlotte and Wilbur, Pooh and Christopher Robin and Pooh and Piglet.
Do you have any favourite book friendships?

Dame Ninette de Valois features in Blazing a Trail: Irish Women who Changed the World, words by me, illustrations by @oneillustration - I loved working on this book and was delighted when it won the @AnPostIBAS
Bravo Lady Heath! The women of the early 20th century were remarkable - suffragettes, activists, artists, scientists, adventurers - they had to fight so hard. We stand on the shoulders of giants. I loved researching their stories for Blazing a Trail - Lady Heath is in there!
@adwickham @MichaelMoriarty Ten Little Fingers and Ten Little Toes features all kinds of babies from all over the world - lovely book! #bookelves19
#bookelves19 - This picturebook for older children + adults by David Almond + Levi Pinfold is glorious. Beautifully written with outstanding illustrations, it's the true story of 2 musicians who say goodbye to the houses in a valley in a v special way before it is flooded.
