Examining a 1941 membership card in the Captain Battle Boys' Brigade, I see its aims — including "to support the genuinely democratic ideals of our country" and "to protect my fellow schoolmates and friends ... from any form of discrimination" — are things today's GOP is against.

@doctorow How much did the comics of my youth imprint on me? So much so that immediately on seeing that panel, I remembered the masked villain was [SPOILER!] the Super-Skull pretending to be Sue and Johnny Storm's father, knowing the FF wouldn't fight at full force. I recall every panel!
