I'm using the previously created Height Points as a loose guide for mountain ranges etc..
It's just ideas and I ignore as needed but it's nice to not waste all the previous effort of spot height creation.
The most annoying part of this process is accomdating the split lines on Goode projection. I want what is one side to flow to the other, as such I'm keeping the data as simple as possible in that area.
This afternoon I'm drawing a shit ton of contours for the global map of Poseidon for @BiohazardJeff Blue Planet.
Where I'm at... let's see where this takes me.
1 hour or so later, that's good for a tonight. Time for some Path of Exile or something.
Going to Draw some contours for @BiohazardJeff Blue Planet. Let's work on this globe already.
Progress. Contour work is one of those things that looks like crap in isolation but once you get a number of them together and pick some good colours it starts to hum. For now tho this is a start. Time to take a break.
Essentially I'm drawing out from my islands as a series of layers of colour. It's 5 Layers but I'm only drawing 4 as the 5th is just the entire globe. Islands in Red so I can see them easier.
You can see that at the Globe Scale of 1:175M my original contours are even here a bit much and the thin Abyssal slivers are really too thin for a map like this.
So for the first map I did a few years back the interpolated contours made a fairly majestic DEM and the Hillshade while fairly rounded was still really nice and contrasting.
So what I need to do is group up the main Height Breaks and then I'll just draw those limited bands which should hopefully be enough to make a decent DEM for the globe. Worst case I give up on the DEM and just use the Contours which isn't all that bad.
This is ADHD drawing.
