Most probably remember this image from the liner notes of BAT OUT OF HELL 2 from Meatloaf
The first materials that came to hand were pastels, so I drew the art directly onto black pastel paper.
Unfortunately, black pastel paper looks dark gray under photo lights, so the reproduction wouldn't have been faithful to my idea.
THE WITCHING TREE (2019)
An accidental shape on a scrap of illustration board evoked a sort of Lovecraftian tree.
And a few other oddities...
This brought to mind Lovecraft’s descriptions of strange shapes seen on the mountain range his explorers fly over when traveling to the Plain of Leng.
As I began working on a new cover for AT THE MOUNTAINS OF MADNESS, I dreamt about being lost in L.A. I was looking down on the city with strange buildings popping up through the fog.
