Tried my hand on some gouache brushes for texturing last night. Results turned out pretty neat but still needs polish.

Cooldown chimera from last night's stream!
Meant to be a ferret-cockatoo but with the ear so far back from the eye it looks more ratty. I'm still very pleased with the texturing, as well as my ability to identify why it looks more like a rat.

Then the lightning! I used a cold color too because I wanted the drawing to look spooky and cold for real, this place is as welcoming as a brick. Same as for the shading: hard brush, blend, texturing! For the hair I just make my blender smaller and do lot of small strokes in it.

in case anybody was wondering how I decided on the texturing direction for the ibis sketch - I used this 1920s Art Deco Egyptian Revival Canopic Vase as my reference... it has got some great color variations and is very much on 'brand' 🧐
