Left is the reference python at 4 samples per pixel colourmapping to palette. Right is the actual pico8 version. I feel these visual clues should make it super obvious what is wrong in the pico version but I just can't grok it.

(Progress 8) Working on a lighting engine. Dynamic (no bounce) lights were surprisingly easy! Strangely, shadows look like giant pillars. Need to figure out how to light the walls
